Why We Must Stop SOPA

Right now, there are two pieces of legislation in Congress that would change the Internet forever if they are enacted. The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA) would give the federal government the ability to potentially shut down millions of websites. SOPA (the version being considered in the U.S. House of Representatives) is the more dangerous of the two. It would essentially be the equivalent of a nuclear bomb being dropped on the Internet. It would give government officials unlimited power to very rapidly shut down any website that is found to "engage in, enable or facilitate" copyright infringement. That language is very broad and very vague. Many fear that it will be used to shut down any websites that even inadvertently link to "infringing material". Can you imagine a world where there is no more Facebook, Twitter or YouTube? Sites like those would be forced to hire thousands of Internet censors to make sure that no "infringing material" is posted, and many prominent websites may simply decide that allowing users to post content is no longer profitable and is just not worth the hassle. Are you starting to get the picture? That is why we must stop SOPA. If SOPA is enacted, it could be the death of the free Internet.

Dow's Deadly Harvest: The Return of Agent Orange

Whether you are aware of it or not, your food, air and water are the battle ground upon which a titanic struggle between the multinational biotech corporations Monsanto and Dow AgroScience is now playing out. As a result, your health and environment (and that of all future generations) are at profound risk of irreparable harm.

Dow AgroSciences (a subsidiary of Dow Chemicals) recently announced their development of genetically-engineered corn, soybean, and cotton plants metabolically resistant to the herbicide 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D), a major ingredient in Agent Orange. What this means for our future is that, if approved for use, vast regions of our country will soon be sprayed with a chemical that has been linked to over 400,000 birth defects in Vietnam.

How did we end up here?

"Reverse robocall" campaign lets citizens phone-blast SOPA supporters

A Web-based civic action site is providing a way for people irate about the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) to voice their opinions in a very literal way. Reverse Robocall, a site set up by Shaun Dakin and Aaron Titus, allows users to record a message through the site and perform their own robocalls to politicians and lobbyists.

For a fee of $10, Reverse Robocall will let you record a message that will be delivered as a phone call to the offices of the co-sponsors of SOPA and each of the associations and lobbying groups that have backed the bill in Congress—88 in all. You can even customize the phone number that will appear in caller ID for the call in order to avoid being blocked by systems that reject calls without them. And, if you choose, you can let others listen into your message on the site and rate your effort.

Israelis march against ultra-Orthodox segregation campaign

Thousands of Israelis gathered Tuesday night to protest against ultra-Orthodox extremists whose campaign for gender segregation has erupted into verbal and physical abuse against women.

Police said about 3,000 people showed up in the town of Beit Shemesh, with "several hundred" police supervising. There were no clashes between participants and ultra-Orthodox residents who have recently been filmed spitting at a woman and verbally harassing an eight-year-old girl.

Sunshine helps prevent skin cancer while sunscreens promote it

(NaturalNews) There are three types of skin cancer - of which melanoma is the most dangerous and potentially lethal because it can metastasize into other body parts. The other two non-melanoma types, squamous cell carcinoma and basal cell carcinoma, are treatable and not as threatening or able to metastasize as melanoma.

Most skin cancer cases are of the basal cell carcinoma type, which can destroy surrounding tissue and disfigure facial skin areas if unchecked. It is advisable to check with a dermatologist if you have any unusual new moles or sores that won't heal anywhere on your skin. Skin biopsies are easy to perform.

Mainstream medicine blames the sun for all three types, and recommends sun screen lotions to block sun exposure. But one should take their sloppy science of prevention with several grains of salt.

Just about any dermatologist still holds to the myth that you need to avoid direct sunlight or lather your body with sunscreen to avoid skin cancer. Recently, the opposite has been determined to be true in both cases.

World's Second And Third Largest Economies To Bypass Dollar, Engage In Direct Currency Trade

This is not a good sign for the USD. Currency wars.

To all who still think that in the war of attrition between the USD and the EUR (because contrary to what some have "discovered" only recently, currency wars have been going on for a long, long time and will continue to do so, before morphing into trade and real wars), in which both currencies are doomed, and where the winner takes it all, if only for a few minutes, we bring to your attention the following most recent update out of the Pacific Rim (where incidentally the Shanghai Composite has resumed its relentless track lower with the obvious intention of closing 2011 at its 52 week low) in which we find i) that the dollar's hegemonic control over the world is ending, and ii) that the mercantilist relationship so long sustained between China and the US, may be shifting and reversing, and in its next metamorphosis will see Japan buying the bonds of... China (although probably not for long - see next post). As Bloomberg reports, "Japan and China will promote direct trading of yen and yuan without using dollars and will encourage the development of a market for the exchange, to cut costs for companies, the Japanese government said. Japan will also apply to buy Chinese bonds next year, the Japanese government said in a statement after a meeting between Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao in Beijing yesterday." And before someone blows it off as merely more foreign relations posturing, "“Given the huge size of the trade volume between the Asia’s two biggest economies, this agreement is much more significant than any other pacts China has signed with other nations,” said Ren Xianfang, a Beijing-based economist with IHS Global Insight Ltd." As for China's reverse mercantilist move, one which will stun anyone who believes that Yuan is still undervalued, "Finance Minister Jun Azumi said Dec. 20 buying of Chinese bonds would be beneficial for Japan because it would help reveal more information about financial markets in China, the world’s largest holder of foreign currency reserves." Speaking of, has Albert Edwards gloated yet that given enough time, he always ends up being proven right, in this case about the CNY's upcoming devaluation?

Massive 1,100+ year old Maya site discovered in Georgia's mountains

Archaeological zone 9UN367 at Track Rock Gap, near Georgia’s highest mountain, Brasstown Bald, is a half mile (800 m) square and rises 700 feet (213 m) in elevation up a steep mountainside. Visible are at least 154 stone masonry walls for agricultural terraces, plus evidence of a sophisticated irrigation system and ruins of several other stone structures. Much more may be hidden underground. It is possibly the site of the fabled city of Yupaha, which Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto failed to find in 1540, and certainly one of the most important archaeological discoveries in recent times.

These Are The 29 Massive Banks That Could Take Down The Global Economy

The G20 decided last month on a list of 29 banks that are systematically important and therefore too big to fail.

Yesterday eight of those banks were downgraded by Fitch.

Measures are already in place to make sure a failure by one of these banks doesn't destroy the global economy in the future. According to WSJ, they will have until the end of 2012 to make contingency plans for a collapse and shore up their capital reserves by 1-3.5%. By 2019, they'll have to maintain a ratio of tier 1 capital to liabilities 3.5% higher than that.

Economist: True Fed Exposure $29 Trillion

The true total of Federal Reserve emergency lending to Wall Street is not $1.2 trillion, as Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke contends, nor the $7.7 trillion figure reported by Bloomberg News, which Bernanke publicly contests.

The real number, argues economist L. Randall Wray, is a staggering $29 trillion.

Wray writes that Bernanke’s recent defense of the lower figure is “misleading” and that the chairman’s claim that Fed bailouts do not constitute a form of spending is plain wrong.

You are about to dive into a story that, for quite some time now, has been nothing but a great-sounding idea -- a wonderful "what if." Almost nothing of this story could be found in the mainstream media.

However, the bizarre origin of the story did briefly find its way into FOX's Glenn Beck show in 2009.

I highly recommend you watch this first, as it will draw you directly into the mystery -- which flickered for the briefest moment in mainstream media, only to disappear into shuddering silence:

Australian Banks Given One Week To Prepare For European "Meltdown"

Whereas previously we had heard extensive horror stories about banks being told to prepare for the end of the world in case the European summit (the latest and greatest one from last Friday which was supposed to find a cure for cancer among other things) failed, and even went so far as to read about preparations for trading in the drachma on a when issued basis, once the summit passed (and it was clear that media posturing would do nothing to fix what has already been a failure and it would be best to remove the threats of "reality" from the public's attention) all such "end of the world" speculation promptly disappeared - after all why remind people that things are now worse than ever. Until today. According to the Australian Finance Review (link - subscription required), banks down under "have been given 1 week by regulators to stress test how they would handle a spike in joblessness, plunge in home prices spurred by EU debt crisis." Aka a European "Meltdown." And since we don't have immediate access to the article, we leave it to Bloomberg First Word to describe for us what the article says:

Victoria’s Secret Revealed in Child Picking Burkina Faso Cotton

Clarisse Kambire’s nightmare rarely changes. It’s daytime. In a field of cotton plants that burst with purple and white flowers, a man in rags towers over her, a stick raised above his head. Then a voice booms, jerking Clarisse from her slumber and making her heart leap. “Get up!”

The man ordering her awake is the same one who haunts the 13-year-old girl’s sleep: Victorien Kamboule, the farmer she labors for in a West African cotton field. Before sunrise on a November morning she rises from the faded plastic mat that serves as her mattress, barely thicker than the cover of a glossy magazine, opens the metal door of her mud hut and sets her almond-shaped eyes on the first day of this season’s harvest. A Union is Born: Latin America in Revolution

While much of the world is in crisis and protests are erupting throughout Europe and the United States, Latin American and Caribbean nations are building consensus, advancing social justice and increasing positive cooperation in the region. Social, political and economic transformations have been taking place through democratic processes in countries such as Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil throughout the past decade, leading to a massive reduction in poverty and income disparity in the region, and a substantial increase in social services, quality of life and direct participation in political process.

One of the major initiatives of progressive Latin American governments this century has been the creation of new regional organizations that promote integration, cooperation and solidarity amongst neighboring nations. Cuba and Venezuela began this process in 2004 with the founding of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA), that now includes Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Dominica, St. Vincent’s and the Grenadines and Antigua and Barbuda. ALBA was initially launched in response to the US government’s failed attempt to impose its Free Trade Agreement of the Americas (FTAA) throughout the region. Today ALBA is a thriving multilateral organization with member nations that share similar political visions for their countries and for the region, and includes numerous cooperation agreements in economic, social and cultural areas. The fundamental basis of trade amongst ALBA nations is solidarity and mutual benefit. There is no competition, exploitation or attempt to dominate amongst ALBA states. ALBA even counts on its own currency, the SUCRE, which allows for trade between member nations without dependence on the US dollar.

Czech Republic Decriminalizes Peyote, Magic Mushroom Growing

Under changes in Czech drug policy approved Wednesday by the Cabinet, growers of psychedelic cacti and fungi will no longer face criminal punishment. The hallucinogenic plants will be removed from the government’s drug “black list,” meaning that cultivation of more than “small” amounts will no longer be a crime.

Peyote and magic mushrooms were originally included on the list when the Czech’s reformed their drug laws in 2009, making the Czech Republic one of the most liberal in Europe on drug policy. But amateur cactus growers who said they had no intention of consuming their plants complained that the drug reforms effectively criminalized them for pursuing their hobbies.

Study Proves Fluoride Brain Damage

A study conducted by scientists in India demonstrates that consumption of sodium fluoride results in brain and neurological damage. It was published by K. Pratap Reddy of the University College of Sciences at Osmania University in Hyderabad, India, on January 10, 2011.

The study was performed on rats for a period of 60 days. Fluoride resulted in neurodegenerative changes and morphological alterations were observed in the neocortex, hippocampus and cerebellum areas of the brain and also the spinal cord and sciatic nerve.

In 1995, Dr. Phyllis Mullenix and her colleagues found that fluoride studies in rats “can be indicative of a potential for motor dysfunction, IQ deficits and/or learning disabilities in humans.”

“High levels of fluoride in drinking water (1-12ppm) affect central nervous system directly without first causing the physical deformities of skeletal fluorosis.” Reddy writes in the Journal of Medical and Allied Sciences. Damage to the hippocampus often results in hyperactivity and cognitive deficits.

Numerous studies conducted in China, India, Iran, and Mexico have determined that fluoride exposure is associated with IQ deficits in children.

The correlation between fluoride exposure and diminished IQ was underscored earlier this year after the results of a study in China were published. “A recent Chinese study concluded that low dose sodium fluoride in drinking water diminishes IQ, especially among children. This is the twenty-fourth such international study with the same conclusion. Sodium fluoride has also been linked to reduced fertility and lower sperm counts,” Paul Fassa wrote for Natural News in April.

In addition to the Chinese study, and 23 other IQ studies, there have been over 100 animal studies linking fluoride to brain damage, according to the Fluoride Action Network. The Indian study is the most recent.

The Chinese study “should be the study that finally ends water fluoridation. Millions of American children are being exposed unnecessarily to this neurotoxin on a daily basis. Who in their right minds would risk lowering their child’s intelligence in order to reduce a small amount of tooth decay, for which the evidence is very weak,” explains Tara Blank, Ph.D., the Science and Health Officer for the Fluoride Action Network.

The Indian study is available as a PDF here. It is an invaluable asset for activists attempting to get rid of the deadly neurotoxin sodium fluoride from our drinking water and food products.

Federal appeals court reinstates corporate ownership over human genes

Reversing a previous decision by a US District Court that declared gene patenting to be invalid, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC) recently ruled in opposition, declaring that certain gene variants are supposedly unnatural and can thus be legally patented by biotechnology companies.

Myriad Genetics & Laboratories, a molecular diagnostics company out of Salt Lake City, Ut., had filed patents for BRCA1 and BRCA2, two genes allegedly linked to predicting breast cancer risk. Because the company had supposedly omitted certain so-called noncoding "junk" regions from the genes, Myriad alleged that these genes were their own intellectual property.

Nutricide - Criminalizing Natural Health, Vitamins, and Herbs

It is frightening how much of this is being implemented away from the public eye. If people do not act soon, our children will not be able to eat anything except for what corporations will allow them (which is just enough to stay healthy enough to serve the system).

The Codex Alimentarius is a threat to the freedom of people to choose natural healing and alternative medicine and nutrition. Ratified by the World Health Organization, and going into Law in the United States in 2009, the threat to health freedom has never been greater. This is the first part of a series of talks by Dr. Rima Laibow MD, available on DVD from the Natural Solutions Foundation, an non-profit organization dedicated to educating people about how to stop Codex Alimentarius from taking away our right to freely choose nutritional health.

New food bill in New Zealand takes away human right to grow food

Even in faraway New Zealand you can't escape anymore, they are are coming for our freedom.

(InvestmentWatch) I was shocked to learn from a friend on the weekend that a new Food Bill is being brought in here in New Zealand. The new bill will make it a privilege and not a right to grow food.

I find two aspects of this bill alarming. The first is the scope and impact the new bill has, and secondly that it has all happened so quietly. There has been VERY little media coverage, on a bill which promises to jeopardise the future food security of the country.

I read that the bill is being brought in because of the WTO, which of course has the US FDA behind it, and of course that is influenced by big business (Monsanto and other players). It looks like this NZ food bill will pave the way to reduce the plant diversity and small owner operations in New Zealand, for example by way of controlling the legality of seed saving and trading/barter/giving away; all will be potentially illegal. The best website to read about the problems with the new bill is http://nzfoodsecurity.org (I have no connection with this website)

Here are some snippets:

  • It turns a human right (to grow food and share it) into a government-authorised privilege that can be summarily revoked.
  • It makes it illegal to distribute “food” without authorisation, and it defines “food” in such a way that it includes nutrients, seeds, natural medicines, essential minerals and drinks (including water).
  • By controlling seeds, the bill takes the power to grow food away from the public and puts it in the hands of seed companies. That power may be abused.
  • Growing food for distribution must be authorised, even for “cottage industries”, and such authorisation can be denied.
  • Under the Food Bill, Police acting as Food Safety Officers can raid premises without a warrant, using all equipment they deem necessary – including guns (Clause 265 – 1).
  • Members of the private sector can also be Food Safety Officers, as at Clause 243. So Monsanto employees can raid premises – including marae – backed up by armed police.
  • The Bill gives Food Safety Officers immunity from criminal and civil prosecution.
  • The Government has created this bill to keep in line with its World Trade Organisation obligations under an international scheme called Codex Alimentarius (“Food Book”). So it has to pass this bill in one form or another.
  • The bill would undermine the efforts of many people to become more self-sufficient within their local communities.
  • Seed banks and seed-sharing networks could be shut down if they could not obtain authorisation. Loss of seed variety would make it more difficult to grow one’s own food.
  • Home-grown food and some or all seed could not be bartered on a scale or frequency necessary to feed people in communities where commercially available food has become unaffordable or unavailable (for example due to economic collapse).
  • Restrictions on the trade of food and seed would quickly lead to the permanent loss of heirloom strains, as well as a general lowering of plant diversity in agriculture.
  • Organic producers of heirloom foods could lose market share to big-money agribusiness outfits, leading to an increase in the consumption of nutrient-poor and GE foods.

Bankers have seized Europe: Goldman Sachs Has Taken Over

On November 25, two days after a failed German government bond auction in which Germany was unable to sell 35% of its offerings of 10-year bonds, the German finance minister, Wolfgang Schaeuble said that Germany might retreat from its demands that the private banks that hold the troubled sovereign debt from Greece, Italy, and Spain must accept part of the cost of their bailout by writing off some of the debt. The private banks want to avoid any losses either by forcing the Greek, Italian, and Spanish governments to make good on the bonds by imposing extreme austerity on their citizens, or by having the European Central Bank print euros with which to buy the sovereign debt from the private banks. Printing money to make good on debt is contrary to the ECB’s charter and especially frightens Germans, because of the Weimar experience with hyperinflation.

Obviously, the German government got the message from the orchestrated failed bond auction. As I wrote at the time, there is no reason for Germany, with its relatively low debt to GDP ratio compared to the troubled countries, not to be able to sell its bonds.

Computing with Light is Now Closer to Reality

(David L. Chandler - MIT) There has been enormous progress in recent years toward the development of photonic chips — devices that use light beams instead of electrons to carry out their computational tasks. Now, researchers at MIT have filled in a crucial piece of the puzzle that could enable the creation of photonic chips on the standard silicon material that forms the basis for most of today’s electronics.

In many of today’s communication systems, data travels via light beams transmitted through optical fibers. Once the optical signal arrives at its destination, it is converted to electronic form, processed through electronic circuits and then converted back to light using a laser. The new device could eliminate those extra electronic-conversion steps, allowing the light signal to be processed directly.

Instead Of Relenting To Demands To Let ECB Print, Germany Is Preparing To Kick Countries Out Of Eurozone

It's official - Germany has become just like China (or, rather, has always been like it): the more it is pushed to do something (let ECB print), the more it will do the opposite. Half a year ago we discussed that the weakest point of the European bailout language was its reliance on Collective Action Clauses which imply that any resolution which does not have 100% backing of all bondholders would potentially push a country into default. In essence, this took control out of the hands of the Eurozone head, Germany, and put it to the bondholders. Well, according to a preliminary draft released by the Telegraph and FT, as part of the new bailout 'indenture' contained in the ESM, "under a section headed “The establishment of a procedure for an orderly default as part of the ESM”, Berlin makes clear that countries which are deemed to be insolvent – rather than just suffering a temporary loss of access to the financial markets – would be allowed, in effect, to declare bankruptcy and default on their bonds: If [a debt sustainability review] is negative, the affected member state would instead receive loans for a limited time only, during which the procedure for an orderly default would be prepared. In order to make sovereign defaults possible where they are unavoidable, the threat of instability in the financial system resulting from such a default must be able to be credibly excluded. A plan to maintain the stability of the financial system in the event of an orderly default needs to be developed in close co-operation with European banking regulators. This would determine which banks would be restructured and/or recapitalised, which will necessitate the drawing up of Europe-wide rules on bank restructuring." And as we discussed previously, the voluntary language will likely be taken out from the final draft, effectively giving Germany the unilateral ability to kick countries out. Which explains why the market is about to plunge: according to just released information from DPA, "the German Foreign Ministry on Friday confirmed that Germany was considering the possibility of more eurozone "orderly defaults" beyond that of Greece, as suggested by a paper leaked by the British press." In essence, what this means is that instead of relenting on the ECB issue, which as every investment bank has said would be the end of the world unless massive printing is permitted, Germany would rather kick countries out of the Eurozone instead of entering a hyperinflationary collapse. Perhaps it is now time for the banks to start toning down their language on the imminent destruction that would ensue if the ECB does not print, as this is apparently not happening...

The Dangerous Truth Behind Microwaves

(Mike Barrett - Activist Post) America’s most convenient appliance – microwave ovens are an absolute necessity in today’s fast-paced world. Microwaves are currently present in at least 90% of homes in America. They offer a simple and extremely rapid way to cook or reheat food or liquids.

The majority of people use this kitchen appliance without question and think they are no more than a simple alternative to conventional ovens for when they don’t feel like cooking or need food fast.

However you may want to think twice before using your microwave, as it could be one of the worst things YOU do to your food.

Scientists Turn Brain’s Visual Memories into a Mind-Blowing Video

Ever dreamed of recording your dreams and turning them into a video clip? The technology that enables you to do that is near: UC Berkeley scientists figured out a way to turn the way our brains interpret visual stimuli into a video, and the result is amazing.

To be able to do this, the researches used functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) to measure the blood flow through brain’s visual cortex. Then, different parts of the brain were divided into volumetric pixels or voxels (the term might be familiar to those who remember early 3D games which were based on voxels instead of polygons which are more commonly used today). Finally, the scientists built a computational model which describes how visual information is mapped into brain activity.

$$$ THE NEW US DOLLAR IS UNDERWAY reports Bob Chapman

$$$ THE NEW USDOLLAR IS BEING PLANNED. INFORMATION HAS BEEN SHARED WITH LARGE AND MIDSIZED US-BANKS. ITS LAUNCH IS EXPECTED TO OCCUR IN 12 TO 18 MONTHS. EXPECT A LARGE DEVALUATION AND VANISH OF MUCH WEALTH. THE OLD (CURRENT) USDOLLAR WILL NO LONGER SERVE AS GLOBAL RESERVE CURRENCY, NOR THE STANDARD FOR GLOBAL TRADE SETTLEMENT. BOB CHAPMAN REPORTS A NEW USDOLLAR IS UNDERWAY.

$$$Bob Chapman has reported some potentially important news. Whether its timetable is soon or distant, nobody knows since the path traveled is an event driven scenario. He broke the story three weeks ago. He claims to have received the information directly from people at the top of the banking profession, but from the leading mid-sized banks. He does not have a line of information from the top major banks. These mid-sized executive bankers attend meetings directed by the USFed and they pass details to Chapman. He reports, "The big US banks are being told to clear safe secure storage, because they are getting ready to print a new currency. It is not the Amero. It is a new Dollar, probably different from what you have already. It is underway. It may not be in the printing stage yet, but the plans are there. The USFed is expecting, as is the USDept Treasury, that the USDollar is not going to be the reserve currency of the world in about a year and a half, maybe less." The report is not specific, but the blueprint is clear that a response is planned for the death or rejection of the USDollar. See the Chapman weblog (CLICK HERE).The Jackass reaction follows. Plans are being shared with mid-sized US banks, since they are subservient. They talk to mere mortals like Chapman since they too are mortals, ranking minions in the banking industry. A new USDollar is due to launch in 12 to 18 months, the American response to crisis. A very big devaluation comes in my opinion, complete with nasty price inflation in the domestic USEconomy. Built in will be considerable debt writedowns, perhaps directly applied, probably forceably to the foreign creditors with enormous resentment. Tremendous complications are involved, since the USDollar is used in global contracts and commerce, like trade settlement. The end of the USDollar is near. The beginning of the Third World Dollar is fast approaching. Its birth will be the final cold water in the face of Americans, all too sleepy for years, as they will awaken in horror. They will see their pensions, life savings, and more perhaps cut in half. Ramifications and impact will be broad, as a ticket to Third World will be issued and used without a choice. The initial devaluation might be 30% to 35%, but more loss is assured after time passes.

My forecast is for a follow-up devaluation of another 15% to 20% after a period of time, like six to nine months. The deficits are too great, for both trade and the government budget. The hemorrhage will deal crippling blows to the new USDollar, which will not be supported by the printing press any longer. If in effect, the new USD will not be readily accepted for trade, since it will be toxic, a true reflection of the horrendous fundamentals for the USEconomy and USGovt. If in effect, financing the USGovt debt will not be easy, since the printing press will be mothballed. The domestic US interest rates will rise past 10% quickly, matching the true rate of price inflation. The price of food will double quickly, gasoline too, and all utilities. The reckoning will result in total 50% USD devaluation down the road 2 or 3 years. The overall impact from birth of a new USDollar is its ticket to the Third World, a tourniquet on the US national neck. Some caution must be given concerning Bob Chapman. He is bold and intrepid, but half of his shocking calls have been nothing more than hot wind that passed to the desert hills. For three years, he has been warning of bank shutdowns and bank holidays. The Jackass has expected them eventually, but Chapman gave at least three such wrong calls. He has been alarmist at times, but his calls are surely contingency plans in the shadowy conference rooms where the elite meet and the security agencies map out logistics. At times Chapman seems to lack some comprehension of practical implications. But he does have some deep sources. The best approach for this information is to plan on it in the future, but that door might not open for some time. The timetable will be dictated by events, which are unquestionably turning more toward chaos and disorder.

OWS witness: Brutal lockdown in Zuccotti Park to fuel new protests

The birthplace of the anti-corporate 'Occupy' movement in New York has been raided and cleared out by police. Hundreds of protesters who've been camped out in Zuccotti Park for two months have been evicted, and banned from coming back to stay. Officers reportedly used force to kick out some of the activists, with witnesses suggesting pepper spray and tear gas were also used. Authorities removed all tents, citing health and safety concerns. But protesters say that's just an excuse to sabotage a massive demonstration planned for Thursday. An 'Occupy' activist Alexa O'Brien who was in New York at the time of the police raid, says that the authorities' heavy-handed response has been an infringement on civil liberties.

G-20 Demands German Gold To Keep Eurozone Intact; German Central Bank Tells G-20 Where To Stick It

Going back to the annals of brokeback Europe, we learn that gold after all is money, after the G-20 demanded that EFSF (of €1 trillion "stability fund" yet can't raise €3 billion fame) be backstopped by none other than German gold. Per Reuters, "The Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung (FAS) reported that Bundesbank reserves -- including foreign currency and gold -- would be used to increase Germany's contribution to the crisis fund, the European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF) by more than 15 billion euros ($20 billion)." And who would be the recipient of said transfer? Why none other than the most insolvent of global hedge funds, the European Central Bank.

Also, in addition to gold, the ECB had set its eyes on that other "fake" currency that DSK had succeded in protecting throughout his tenure, all his other undoings aside, "The Welt am Sonntag newspaper, citing similar plans, said 15 billion euros would come from special drawing rights (SDR) that the Bundesbank holds." Naturally, these discoveries prompted a prompt and furious rebuttal from the very top of German authorities: "Germany's gold and foreign exchange reserves, which the Bundesbank administers, were not at any point up for discussion at the G20 summit in Cannes," government spokesman Steffen Seibert said. The WSJ adds, "A plan to have the International Monetary Fund issue its special currency as a powerful weapon in Europe's efforts to contain the widening euro-zone debt crisis was blocked by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, according to a report in a German newspaper."

Wikileaks Exposes German Preparations For "A Eurozone Chapter 11"

The following cable from US ambassador to Germany Philip Murphy ("Ambassador Murphy spent 23 years at Goldman Sachs and held a variety of senior positions, including in Frankfurt, New York and Hong Kong, before becoming a Senior Director of the firm in 2003, a position he held until his retirement in 2006") "CONFIDENTIAL: 10BERLIN181" tells us all we need to know about what has been really happening behind the smooth, calm and collected German facade vis-a-vis not only Greece, but all of Europe, and what the next steps are: "A EUROZONE CHAPTER 11: DB Chief Economist Thomas Mayer told Ambassador Murphy he was pessimistic Greece would take the difficult steps needed to put its house in order. A worst case scenario, says Mayer, could be that Germany pulls out of the Eurozone altogether in 20 years time. In 1990, Germany's Constitutional Court ruled that the country could withdraw from the Euro if: 1) the currency union became an "inflationary zone," or 2) the German taxpayer became the Eurozone's "de facto bailout provider." Mayer proposes a "Chapter 11 for Eurozone countries," which would place troubled members under economic supervision until they put their house in order. Unfortunately, there is no serious discussion of this underway, he lamented." This was In February 2010. The discussion has since commenced.

GMO Researchers Attacked, Evidence Denied, and a Population at Risk

Biologist Arpad Pusztai had more than 300 articles and 12 books to his credit and was the world's top expert in his field. But when he accidentally discovered that genetically modified (GM) foods are dangerous, he became the biotech industry's bad-boy poster child, setting an example for other scientists thinking about blowing the whistle.

In the early 1990s, Dr. Pusztai was awarded a $3 million grant by the UK government to design the system for safety-testing genetically modified organisms (GMOs). His team included more than 20 scientists working at three facilities, including the Rowett Institute in Aberdeen, Scotland, the top nutritional research lab in the UK, and his employer for the previous 35 years. The results of Pusztai's work were supposed to become the required testing protocols for all of Europe. But when he fed supposedly harmless GM potatoes to rats, things didn't go as planned.

Within just 10 days, the animals developed potentially pre-cancerous cell growth, smaller brains, livers and testicles, partially atrophied livers, and damaged immune systems. Moreover, the cause was almost certainly side effects from the process of genetic engineering itself. In other words, the GM foods on the market, which are created from the same process, might have similar affects on humans.

THE UNITED NATIONS exposed

The truth behind the U.N. The U.N. was created for nothing other than creating a powerful world government. Watch these videos and learn the true U.N.There have been two attempts to create a center of Global Governance / Global Government: the first, the forerunner of the United Nations was the League of Nations. During the First World War several world leaders such as Woodrow Wilson and Jan Smuts, began urging the establishment of an international organization to preserve peace and settle disputes between nations by arbitration. Axiomatic to this argument was that civilization could survive only if it could develop an international system that would insure peace. Thus, in 1919 under the Treaty of Versailles the World Government-in-waiting, the proposed League of Nations, was designed "to promote international cooperation and to achieve peace and security." However, because the US Congress, Senate and the ordinary people refused to participate in such blatant Internationalism, the "League" was doomed and after failing to prevent the Second World War, the League of Nations ceased its activities.

How The Fiat Money Ponzi Scheme Works

Our whole Financial System if a Ponzi scheme, our Treasury has no money to speak of they are having the Federal Reserve making money out of thin air! It is the biggest scam there is, the money only has a value of four cent on the dollar, which is why we have no buying power, and why everything cost so much! The amazing thing is currently you create credit when you take out a loan. The bad thing about this is that there is Interest attached to the Principle. From a philosophic view this is why you are a serf or a slave to the owners of the banking corporations. The banking system & the F up part is that society doesn't know how corrupted the banks really are. Money = debt x interest & credit what keeps us average income people stuck or loosing property -- some day it will all come to and end & the infamous $ dollar will perish to dust! How sad but true ! The Federal Reserves -- was an act of greed n even now the millennium system is full of inflation where it would only keep on growing people what to do? Fraud

Foreigners Dump $74 Billion In Treasurys In 6 Consecutive Weeks: Biggest Sequential Outflow In History

Over the weekend, we observed the perplexing sell off of $56 billion in US Treasurys courtesy of weekly disclosure in the Fed's custodial account (source: H.4.1) and speculated if this may be due to an asset rotation, under duress or otherwise, out of bonds and into stocks, to prevent the collapse of the global ponzi (because when the BRICs tell the IMF to boost its bailout capacity you know it is global). We also proposed a far simpler theory: "the dreaded D-day in which foreign official and private investors finally start offloading their $2.7 trillion in Treasurys with impunity (although not with the element of surprise - China has made it abundantly clear it will sell its Treasury holdings, the only question is when), has finally arrived." In hindsight the Occam's Razor should have been applied. Little did we know 5 short days ago just how violent the reaction by China would be (both post and pre-facto) to the Senate decision to propose a law for all out trade warfare with China. Now we know - in the week ended October 12, afurther $17.7 billion was "removed" from the Fed's custodial Treasury account, meaning that someone, somewhere is very displeased with US paper, and, far more importantly, what it represents, and wants to make their displeasure heard loud and clear. Whether it is China - we do not know: we may have a better view in two months when the September/October TIC data hits, but even then it will be full of errors, as Direct Bidder purchases by the UK usually end up being assigned to China at the yearly TIC audit. And the sellers know this all too well. What they also know is that over the next few days (or weeks - ZH tends to be a little "aggressive" in its estimates for popular uptake), as soon as the broader population understands what has transpired, concerns about the reserve status of the greenback will start to resurface, precisely as many have been warning. And what has happened is that in six consecutive weeks, foreigners have sold $74 billion, or more government bonds in a sequential period of time than ever before.

Over the past 27 years — the complete timeframe that the data has been available — there have been 0 deaths as a result of vitamins and over 3 million deaths related to prescription drug use. In fact, going back 54 years there have only been 11 claims of vitamin-related death, all of which provided no substantial evidence to link vitamins to the cause of death. The news comes after a recent statistically analysis found that pharmaceutical drug deaths now outnumber traffic fatalities in the US.

In 2009, drugs exceeded the amount of traffic-related deaths, killing at least 37,485 people nationwide.

Japan: Kan Considered Evacuation of Tokyo in Wake Nuclear Disaster, but Feared Chaos and Collapse of the State

(ABCAustralia) – Japan’s former prime minister Naoto Kan has revealed he contemplated evacuating as many as 30 million people from Tokyo and surrounding areas during the Fukushima nuclear disaster.

Speaking to Japan’s Kyodo News, Mr Kan, who was prime minister during the nuclear crisis, said evacuations on such a scale may have led to Japan being unable to function.

Mr Kan has since resigned from the prime ministership and can now speak more openly about the crisis.

He said he asked experts for “simulations of the worst case scenario” at the Fukushima nuclear plant.

He said the experts explained that people living 200 to 250 kilometres from the plant would have to be evacuated.

He said he contemplated the chaos that would have ensued if such a measure had been taken.

”It was a crucial moment when I wasn’t sure whether Japan could continue to function as a state,” he said.

”I felt that the risk was at its highest during the first 10 days [after the disaster struck].”

Mr Kan also said there were no effective safeguards in place because ”we had never foreseen a situation in which a quake, tsunami and a nuclear plant accident would occur at the same time.”

JP Morgan chase DONATES $4.6 million to NYPD

JP Morgan Chase Just Recently Donated $4.6 million dollars to the NYPD : It's time to put this nonsense to bed. ALL cops are bad. Most THINK they are not bad. Their job is to ENFORCE whatever the government wants them to, moral, immoral, doesn't matter. They earn their living because they are willing to get violent. Period. End of Sentence. They are hired guns. Being a hired gun is not bad in and of itself. It's just a job. What makes it bad is WHO HIRES THEM, and what they are hired for - "to serve and protect". Who? Not the people, the BANKS through their controlled GOVERNMENT.this is what happens when the head of NYPD dines out on Goldman Sach's DIME...which is really our dime, unlawfully transferred to GOldman sachs.

Denmark Announces Emergency Bank Liquidity Program

The Danmarks Nationalbank announced it will provide as much as 400 billion kroner in an emergency liquidity provision program to assist the nation’s banks. The measures include expanding the existing collateral basis, and introducing 6-month loans in addition to the existing 7-day loan facility. Danmarks Nationalbank Governor, Nils Bernstein, said: ”The expansion of credit facilities is intended to supplement the banks’ access to raise loans, thereby easing the transition to a situation without government guarantees when these guarantees expire in 2012 and 2013,”

Denmark’s central bank last raised the lending rate by 25 basis points to 1.55% in July this year, after increasing the rate by 25 basis points in April this year, mirroring the interest rate increases by the European Central Bank (ECB). The Danish Central Bank typically follows the moves of the ECB in order to keep its currency, the Krone, stable. Denmark reported an annual inflation rate of 2.6% in August and 2.9% in July, compared to 3.1% in May, and 2.9% in April this year. The Danish economy grew at a year on year rate of 2% in Q2, compared to 1.7% in Q1 2011 (2.9% in Q4 2010). The Danish krone (DKK) has strengthened about 3% against the US dollar this year, and last traded around 5.37.

Germany will leave the euro

I don't usually write on rumors, but this one simply will not go away.

Germany is rumored to have ordered printing plates to resume printing Marks, and is intending to walk. This does make sense, although the Germans would have to find a way to shield their banks from the impact of a massive shift off the Euro and into the Mark by Germans, which would spike the Mark higher and positively trash the Euro's value.

Yoga is Revolution

As the world situation degrades further into oppression, war and wanton environmental destruction, we need as many tools as possible to protect our physical and spiritual health and well-being. Rather than being in poor shape, in a lousy mood and frightened by every uncertainty, one can use the time we have now to strengthen and purify the body, balance the emotions, and sharpen the mind for more effective decision making. After all, what good is it to be alive if you cannot enjoy your days, even amidst such chaos and uncertainty?

50,000 Gathered In NYC Poised To Clash With Police In the “Occupy Wall Street” Protests

(HigginsBlog) – 50,000 protestors gathered in NYC are poised to clash with the police, ignoring orders to disperse, as the Occupy Wall Street Protests kick off 1 month earlier than planned.

View The Latest Updates – Riot Police Gather In Masses To Disperse Defiant Protestors I just received a call telling me a stand-off between the police and 50,000 protestors who have gathered in New York City is poised to occur. The caller has informed NYC police have order the protestors to disperse by 10:00 PM and the protestors are stating they will refuse to follow the order.

As with the ongoing anti-banker protests in Greece, Spain and in fact throughout Europe, the protests here in the U.S. will be largely or entirely ignored by the corporate / M$M media. We now have the masses gathering against the Wall Street Bankers. In fact, the word around the rumor mill, is protestors are planning to divert rallies planned this fall in Washington D.C, and other major cities, to join forces against the bankers on their home turf.

US GOVERNMENT-SPREADS AIDS WORLDWIDE IN BAYER

The FDA told Bayer to take it off the shelves in the United States because they knew it was tainted. So what does Bayer do? They sell it overseas because they needed to make money off of it. What's worse, the U.S. government allowed this to happen. This cannot be allowed to go away quietly.

9/11 Truthers Hack Jumbotrons in Toronto?

Raising awareness about the collapse of World Trade Center 7 in the lead up to the 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.

Remembering 9/11: 10 Years of War

This video was presented at the Global Research conference, AFTER 9/11: TEN YEARS OF WAR, held at the Cinema du Parc in Montreal on September 8, 2011.

9/11 - 10 years of official Lies and Cover-ups

If you do your own research you will find all the genuine evidence and all the valid analysis supports only one conclusion.9/11 was a big lie from the start , the "official story" is full of bold-faced lies and impossibilities, the main stream media continues the Bin Laden legend despite its utter absurdity. The real terrorists are the Government and the Bankers ! 9/11 is just one of the many things that they planned to control the world and the country by fear. The world is demanding a new scientific investigation for the 911 Truth.Or May be the 9/11 truthers are crazy....they just don't realize that the government loves them! LOL

Goodbye Euro, Hello Drachma

Alas, it may be time to dismiss the dismissal, after Spiegel reports that as one of the scenarios considered for a Greek default, Germany anticipates the reintroduction of the drachma by the pathological liars at the Greek parliament. Yes: the currency that Greece was so happy to jettison 10 years ago when after the assistance of Goldman to hide its bloated debt, to much pomp and circumstance it entered the soon to be defunct Eurozone, is coming baaaaack. EU Officially Seizes The Public Domain, Retroactively Extends Copyright

As was unfortunately expected, despite no evidence that this made any economic sense at all, the member states of the EU have agreed to retroactively extend copyright another 20 years, at which point you can expect it to be extended again (thanks to jtdeboe for sending this over). This is nothing short of governments and the entertainment industry seizing works from the public domain. As we've said before, the purpose of copyright law is to incent the creation of new works. If existing copyright law was enough to incentivize the creation at the time, then there's simply no reason to retroactively extend the law.

Andrew Maguire - LBMA Shorts Will be Forced to Take Losses

With gold trading near the $1,900 level and silver above $42, today King World News interviewed London Whistleblower Andrew Maguire.  When asked about key developments in China regarding the Pan Asia Exchange Maguire stated, “Silver and this 11 kilo gold contract, international rolling spot contract, are the game-changers.  This is not going to be welcomed by the naked short LBMA bullion banks.  These are competing contracts, but the difference is they are 100% backed by physical metal.  That means that this metal will have to be purchased one to one as these contracts open, and not just listed as a paper entry (as the LBMA does in many cases).”

Swiss National Bank Makes Epic Intervention Move, Sending The Swiss Franc Plunging

The long rumored Swiss Franc peg has arrived...
The Swiss National Bank is tired of the surging Franc, and is taking intervention to the next level.
Here's the press release the SNB just put out (hat tip to Robert Sinn for linking to it):
The current massive overvaluation of the Swiss franc poses an acute threat to the Swiss
economy and carries the risk of a deflationary development.

The Swiss National Bank (SNB) is therefore aiming for a substantial and sustained
weakening of the Swiss franc. With immediate effect, it will no longer tolerate a EUR/CHF
exchange rate below the minimum rate of CHF 1.20. The SNB will enforce this minimum
rate with the utmost determination and is prepared to buy foreign currency in unlimited
quantities.

Even at a rate of CHF 1.20 per euro, the Swiss franc is still high and should continue to
weaken over time. If the economic outlook and deflationary risks so require, the SNB will
take further measures.
