Iran cuts off Internet access
Iran has cut off access to the Internet, leaving millions of people without access to e-mail and social networks.
An individual inside the country confirmed this morning that Gmail, Hotmail, and Yahoo email are no longer available. Ditto for Facebook. So far, the government has not made any announcement about the service interruption.
But cyber-sophisticated Iranians are still able to circumvent the government by using proxy servers over VPN connections.
Toxic Artificial Sweetener ‘Neotame’ May Be Lurking in Your Organic Food
Often marketed as Equal and Nutrasweet, aspartame is a well-known neurotoxic sweetener used in many food products.
This cancer-causing artificial sweetener is threatening the health of populations worldwide, and has even been found to be created using genetically modified bacteria.

Introduced by biotech giant Monsanto, Neotame was created as a new sweetener and flavor enhancer to be used in food products. On July 9, 2002, the United States Food and Drug Administration decided that Neotame’s safety and functionality made it available for consumption, thus resulting in its approval. What’s concerning is, while Neotame has a similar structure to aspartame, the chemicals used in its manufacturing process seem to make the sweetener even more toxic than aspartame.

U.S. closes embassy in Syria over security concerns
Washington (CNN) -- The United States shuttered its embassy in Syria and pulled out its remaining staff Monday after the government refused to address its security concerns, the State Department said.
Officials said 17 employees, including Ambassador Robert Ford, left the country. Two employees flew out of Syria last week by commercial air, with the rest of them, including Ford, traveling by convoy Monday morning to Jordan. Most of the staff were evacuated earlier in the year. The diplomatic team already had been reduced in December.
Syrian was notified about the decision to pull the staff and close the embassy after the employees were out of the country, State Department officials said.

New Findings at Teotihuacan : Jade mask found inside Pyramid of the Sun
Archaeologists discovered a series of deposits in the interior of the Pyramid of the Sun at Teotihuacan in Mexico. The team of researchers announced their findings after exploring the 65-metre high pyramid from 2008 to 2011.
Using the 116 metre long tunnel excavated in the 1930s by archaeologist Eduardo Noguera, the Pyramid of the Sun Project, directed by Alejandro Sarabia, stratigraphically excavated 59 trenches and created 3 short tunnels in order to reach the natural rock level and verify the presence of burials and offerings.
“We knew that if the builders of Teotihuacan placed something inside the monument it would have been done at the base level, so we made a vertical shaft at the end of the tunnel and a short horizontal tunnel to reach the centre of the pyramid, since the original tunnel was cut approximately 6 metres to the west of the centre of the monument”, commented team member Perez Cortes.
Astronomers discover potentially habitable super-Earth
Astronomers have discovered a potentially habitable super-Earth planet orbiting a nearby star, making it one of the best candidates to support life.
The newly found planet, called GJ 667Cc, has a mass 4.5 times that of Earth and orbits its host star every 28 days.
The research team used public data from the European Southern Observatory and analyzed it with great precision.
The star, GJ 667C, is a member of a triple star system and is different from our Sun as it lacks in metallic elements.
